Leaving from Sprucefield 30 cars made their way to the Maze to join with the Ulster Aviation Society for their Annual Open Day. Over 300 classic cars were expected but some of our members had managed to set up the club gazebo on Friday so we were assured of our position.  Mervyn Boyd slept in it to make sure it did not blow away!

The cars were parked up very quickly, aided I must say by Alan Caldwell’s skill of assertiveness. The rest of the day was spent lazing about, viewing the helicopters, eating ice cream, discussing classic cars, talking, listening and eating.  At around 4.00pm the decision to pack away the gazebo was taken and then everyone looked around for the expert on dismantling gazebos and it was fortunate that Moffett was on hand and he guided the group through the steps very successfully.  Heather has aspired to  the post of chief packer for future events.

Leaving the Maze the group made their way to Kathleen’s and Josef’s cottage in Dromara. When we arrived the BBQ’s were alight and very quickly the hamburgers and sausages were being eaten and enjoyed. The venue was excellent and a big thank you to our hosts Kathleen and Josef.  A further word of thanks is due to the organiser, Desie and his band of helpers Sharon, Alan Caldwell, chef’s Thomas, Moffett and Margaret. Thanks to Albert for the photos.
